Corfield, Agnes Beryl (Sister, b.1892 - d.1916)
Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of Sister Agnes Beryl Corfield, Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service. Collection consists of eight letters written by Sister Corfield during 1915 to her best friend Lizzy Ryland. The letters are written from Cairo and onboard various hospital ships. They discuss social engagements with officers in Egypt and treating wounded troops aboard hospital ships. Also included is a news paper death noticce. Sister Corfield died of influenza on 2 February 1916, aged 24. She is buried in Chatby Military and War Memorial Cemetery, Alexandria, Egypt.
