An elevated view of Anzac Beach looking south towards Hell Spit, showing a number of barges and punts at Brighton and Watson's Piers. 165 Lance Corporal Roy Stuart Beveridge, 20th Battalion wrote on the verso of the card "Dear Old Vic, Just a line to acquaint you with the fact we are in the best of health and condition after our recent visit to the metropolis of Egypt. This photo shows the beach where we used to indulge in swimming and from which we boarded the punts at the evacuation. Our position (Walker's Ridge) was up the hill just about up from where the collection of punts is. Photo was taken 2? April". Lance Sergeant Roy Stuart Beveridge was killed in action on 12 November 1916 in France and was recorded as being buried at the top of "Needle Trench" near Flers on the Somme. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Picardie, France.
