Triangular box for moving incendiaries, Air Raid Precautions
Description
Triangular shaped box with an extended handle and a sliding base, enabling the operator to move or stifle an incendiary device. Of the English pattern, adopted for Australian ARP use.
History / Summary
Air dropped incendiary bombs were extensively used during the Second World War by both sides. Once ignited, they typically burnt at extremely high temperatures, and were unable to be extinguished. This device provided a safe means of removing the bombs from flammable areas.
