Studio portrait of 3088 Private (Pte) Horace Alfred Marriner (left), 14th Battalion, of Collingwood, Victoria, and an unidentified soldier. A bootmaker prior to enlistment, Pte Marriner embarked for overseas service aboard HMAT Port Lincoln (A17) on 16 October 1915. Pte Marriner was serving with the 46th Battalion in France on 8 July 1918 when he was wounded. He died of those wounds the following day at the 47th Casualty Clearing Station.
