Collection relating to 81 Staff Sergeant Major William Hopkins 'Hop' James 1st Light Horse Regiment
Description
181 Private (Pte) Timothy William McCristal, aiming a rifle, and 142 Cpl Keith Vivers McDonald, with periscope, both of 1st Light Horse Regiment, in a trench. Pte McCristal has two holes in his slouch hat from holding his hat on a stick over the top of the trench as a target for Turkish snipers. Cpl McDonald was killed in action on 7 August 1915, aged 26 years. One of a series of photographs from an album relating to the service of Lieutenant William Hopkin 'Hop' James, 1st Light Horse Regiment.
