Description
The work presents a contemporary response to public rituals of remembrance and the notion of commemoration in Australia. The vertical rows of paper-cut poppies form strong visual links to the RSL poppies placed alongside the names of the fallen in the Memorial’s cloisters since the internment of the Unknown Australian Soldier in 1993.
Pamela See is an Australian-born artist of Chinese descent. She practices a contemporary form of paper-cutting, an intricate and time consuming craft that is over 1500 years old in China.
