Middle row, left to right; 2136 Pte Aubrey Roy Brien, 2206 Pte Michael Joseph Miskell, 2159 Pte Robert John Farrar, 2276 Pte William Herbert Wright. Front row, left to right; possibly 2143 Pte Leslie Richards Bryant, 2253 Pte Robert James Strachan, 2137 Pte Henry James Brien, 2147 Pte John Robert Chivers, 2202 James Henry Maher. Pte Goodacre was transferred to the 1st Battalion in March 1917, and died of wounds on 6 October of the same year. He is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery in Belgium. Pte Miskell was transferred to the 19th Battalion in December 1916. He was killed in action on 3 May 1917, and has no known grave. His name is recorded on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial in France. Brothers Aubrey Roy Brien and Henry James Brien were also transferred to the 19th Battalion in December 1916, and were captured during battle with the Germans in April 1917. Both remained prisoners until their repatriation after the war's end. Pte Strachan was awarded the Military Medal in January 1918, and wounded in August of the same year, returning to Australia in November 1918 and discharged.
