Ingram, Rachel Ann (Corporal, b.1970)
Collection relating to the Afghanistan War service of 8239716 Corporal Rachel Ann Ingram, Afghanistan, 2009.
The collection consists of a letter and commendation to Corporal Ingram by Major General Mark Kelly, Commander Joint Task Force 633. Corporal Ingram was awarded a Commander Joint Task Force Silver Commendation for her work as a photographer, and her "willingness to accompany patrols and assist in conducting searches of local Afghan women. She endured the same hardships as the all-male 1RAR Battle Group, and demonstrated a high level of professionalism."
Ingram was part of Combat Team Alpha, Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force 2 in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010. As an army photographer, Ingram was one of the most 'forward' deployed women in Afghanistan. Afghanistan was her eighth operational tour since East Timor in 1999, and she was attached to an all-male infantry battalion based at Tarin Kowt.
