Collection relating to the Second World War service of 21681 Able Seaman Kenneth James Walker, HMAS Sydney (1935-1941), Royal Australian Navy, Australia and Mediterranean Sea, 1939-1940.

Wallet 1 of 1 – Collection consists of three letters from Able Seaman Walker to his childhood sweetheart, Jean Skidmore. In his letters, Able Seaman Walker writes about being lonely, their planned destinations, undergoing training, serving in the Mediterranean, bombarding the Libyan coast, sinking Italian destroyers, picking up injured survivors, the Battle of Cape Spada in which the HMAS Sydney II sunk the Italian cruiser, Bartolomeo Colleoni, doing lots of convoy work, and visiting Athens.
