Collection related to Moss Valentine Brasington
Description
Informal portrait of an unknown soldier [not Moss] recovering in hospital. The nurse seated to his left in the soldier's uniform is believed to be the Ward Sister.
This photograph is from a collection relating to 6277 Private (Pte) Moss Valentine Brasington. A labourer from Bombala NSW, Pte Brasington enlisted on 21 October 1916 and embarked with the 17th Battalion, 18th Reinforcements, aboard HMAT Suevic (A29) on 11 November 1916. Pte Brasington was twice wounded in action; in October 1917 during the battle of Poelcappelle and on 8 August 1918 during the fighting at Amiens. He returned to Australia on 2 January 1919.
