Description
Framed certificate relating to 4751 Private Reginald Arthur Cowell, 4th Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery. The King's Discharge Certificate is an ornate printed scroll with the wording "4751 Private Reginald Arthur Cowell, 4th L.T.M.B. AIF served with honour and was disabled in the Great War. Honourably discharged on 19 Oct 1919". A colour patch has been painted on the left and the photograph on the right.
A nurseryman from Castle Hill, New South Wales, Cowell enlisted on 11 November 1915. He joined the 13th Battalion before transferring to the 4th Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery in September 1916. He was wounded in action on two occasions, before returning to Australia on 13 April 1919.
