Description

Studio portrait of 2605 James Henry Crammond, wearing corporal's stripes and a 24th Battalion colour patch, though his service record indicates he was promoted to Lance Corporal after he transferred to the 60th Battalion in April 1916. A hairdresser from Bendigo, Victoria, Crammond has "Bendigo" written on his hat pugaree. Drawn above the word are two "v" shaped stripes possibly representing the corporal rank. Lance Corporal Crammond was killed in action in France on 19 July 1916, aged 26. This image is from the collection of 2599 Private Reginald Knox Chapman, 24th and 57th Battalions.
