Wedding portrait of Walter Ernest Douglass and Edith Rowen Crossley with members of their wedding party. Identified left to right: Joy Douglass, flower girl and Walter's niece; Walter Douglass; Edith Crossley; William James Douglass, Walter's brother, best man and Joy's father; Doris Silvester and; John Crossley, Edith's father. 19529 Bandmaster Walter Douglass enlisted in the RAN in 1930 and joined the crew of HMAS Perth in 1939. He was killed in action on 1 March 1942 when HMAS Perth was sunk by Japanese destroyers in the Sunda Strait. He was aged 35.
