Studio portrait of 26379 Corporal Reginald Stanley Burdus, No. 3 Squadron RAAF, of Parramatta NSW. Burdus enlisted in the RAAF on 27 April 1940. He died of wounds on 6 April 1941 at 15 Casualty Clearing Station after a convoy he was travelling in had been strafed on the outskirts of Derna, Libya, by four Messerschmitt Bf 110 aircraft. He was buried in the Derna Military Cemetery but the precise location of his grave has been lost. He is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial in the El Alamein War Cemetery.
