Description

Alan Anderson's involvement in the Anti-Vietnam War Movement and opposition to Conscription began in the early 1960’s. As a member of the Eureka Youth League and as secretary of the youth committee of the Plumbers and Gasfitters Union it was not surprising that involvement in opposing this war and all Australian participation in it became a key component of his Labor movement core beliefs. Along with thousands of others in the community he made an impact in changing attitudes to this terrible conflict amongst the Australian public. The consequences of that war on the Vietnam people and those who fought in that conflict live on this day. (description provided by interviewee).
