Description

Correspondence relating to the Boer War and post-war service of Mary Anne ‘Bessie’ Pocock, New South Wales Army Nursing Service Reserve (NSWANSR). This file contains correspondence dated before 1914 and predominantly relates to Pocock’s service in the Boer War, in particular with the 2nd Stationary Hospital at East London and, later, the 17th Stationary Hospital at Middelburg. In letters home to members of her family she details her experiences as a nurse in the war, including her sightseeing in Europe after the war. This file also contains correspondence addressed to Pocock from friends and acquaintances. This file contains:
