Bukaua, New Guinea. 1943-10-18. Native carriers of the Bukaua (Bukawa) and Yambo tribes who volunteered to carry the equipment of the 29/46th Australian Infantry Battalion along the beach track. They are getting their issue of meat and biscuits. Left to right: fifth from left Polom Kasi (partly obscured) from Ayr (Ec), seventh from left Kepigeya from Buingim (basket under arm), and extreme right Timon from Yambo (tattoo on shoulder).
