Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 3157 Corporal Frederick Leslie Loud, 7th Australian Infantry Battalion. Collection consists of an original black notebook damaged by a bullet, containing brief diary entries covering November 1915 when he left Australia, to July 1916 shortly before he was killed in action in France on 27 July 1916. Also listed in the notebook is a nominal roll for B Company, 7 Battalion; plus notes from engineering school on different types of entanglement; and shortages of equipment. A transcript of the notebook is also included for ease of reading.
