Informal portrait of 438586 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Leslie William Devereux, No. 24 Squadron, RAAF. Flt Sgt Devereux was killed in air operations over Borneo on 2 July 1945.
This photograph was enclosed in a collection of letters written to the family of 430751 Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Arthur James Hogg, by the parents of the other members of the flight crew killed when their aircraft, Liberator A72-64, was hit by enemy fire and crashed near Balikpapan, Borneo, on 2 July 1945. The photograph was enclosed with a letter from K. Devereux to Mr and Mrs Hogg dated 20 November 1945.
