Collection related to 2784336 Signalman Stuart Lindsay Weller, 104 Signal Squadron, and his service in Vietnam between 1967 and 1968.
An Australian customer embraces a female worker at Liz's Bar, a brothel at Back Beach, Vung Tau. One of 477 colour 35mm transparencies taken or collected by 2784336 Signalman (Sig) Stuart Lindsay Weller, 104 Signal Squadron, relating to his service in Vietnam between 1967 and 1968. Sig Weller remembers: "On the one occasion I did venture down there I did so with two other guys, and three girls were waiting just inside the door – Liz’s Bar gave all the appearance of being able to produce 20 girls had 20 guys come through the door. I made it quite clear to the young lady, who had my arm in a half nelson, that not only did I not intend buying any Saigon Teas but I was staying downstairs as well. She tried a couple of times to change my mind but I persisted and she eventually gave up and left in a huff. The boys purchased the mandatory four teas – two for themselves and two for the girls – and while they were being drunk the Mama-san began negotiations on the upstairs visiting rates."
