after David Barker (1888-1946), Australia in Palestine, c.1919
Description
This is a rare advertising poster for the book "Australia in Palestine, The official book of the A.I.F in Egypt and Palestine” that detailed the lives and experiences of Australian troops in the Middle East and was published after the war in 1919. Edited by H.S Gullet and Chas Barrett the publication was initially a soldier’s book, produced almost entirely by men of the light horse in the Middle East to send home to their families and friends in Australia. It was so popular that later an edition was published for sale to the general public, and any profits derived from it went to one of the AIF funds.
