Luck, Percival (Private, b.1887 - d.1915)
Collection relating to the First World War service of 6320 Private Percival Luck, Scots Guards, England and France, 1914-1915. Collection consists of one handwritten postcard sent from Southampton in December 1914, one field service postcard sent in January 1915 and one sympathy card with an attached newspaper clipping. The postcards are addressed to Luck's wife in Australia and briefly describe his shipping out to the front and his health. The newspaper clipping attached to the sympathy card details Luck's service in the Scots Guards, his being reported missing and confirmed killed in action, and the proceedings of his memorial service.
Percival Luck served as a reservist prior to emigrating to Sydney, Australia where he married Edith Snoad in 1913. At the declaration of the First World War, Pte Luck was recalled to duty as a reservist with his regiment and returned to England. He was reported missing in action on 25 January 1915, aged 27 and has no known grave.
