History / Summary
1042 Charles Christie Brice enlisted in the AIF on 21 January 1916, and was posted to the 20th Battalion. 12 months later to the day, Brice embarked for England and eventually joined the 20th Battalion in France on 24 May 1918. Six weeks later, the now Lieutenant Brice was gassed near Villers-Bretonneux effectively ending his active service. He returned to Australia on 1 January 1919.
In 1921, Brice married Doctor Katie Ardill who in 1915 travelled to England to serve with the British Red Cross prior to joining the Royal Army Medical Corps for the duration of the war.
