Description
View of a the area occupied by the 106 Field Battery at Nui Dat, including a hand-painted sign identifying the unit, featuring a turtle. One of 477 colour 35mm transparencies taken or collected by 2784336 Signalman (Sig) Stuart Lindsay Weller, 104 Signal Squadron, relating to his service in Vietnam between 1967 and 1968. Sig Weller recalls: "Every army unit had a signboard out the front of their area to identify them and in Nui Dat some of them were very good. ... and we all took photographs of them in our tour. ... I don’t know the significance of the turtle, but this was the area occupied by the 106 Field Battery, known locally as the Nine Mile Snipers or (not in their presence, of course) the Drop Shorts."
