Photograph of the tree planted on the Avenue of Honour, Ballarat, Victoria, in recognition of the service of 287 Lance Sergeant George Herbert Greenwood, 8th Battalion. This photograph is from a series of 22 images taken by Trent Parke titled WW1 Avenue of Honour.

(Wounded & Missing. On or about April 25th 1915)
Following is copy from 8 A.I.F. Orderly Room book:- “Sgt. Merrit of 8 A.I.F. stated at Inquiry held by O.C. of Battalion that he saw Greenwood at the furthest point reached in the attack of April 25. When the order to retire was given informant saw Greenwood get up to retire but he never reached the position to which they retired.”
