Stitt, Harrie Donald (Flying Officer b.1922 - d.2008)
Collection relating to the Second World War service of 413685 Flying Officer Harrie Donald Stitt (also known as Donald Harrie Stitt), No. 460 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force.
The collection consists of a single cloth-covered Log Book covering the period 1942-1944. The log book records Stitt qualifying as First Pilot on Tiger Moth, Wellington and Lancaster aircraft. After enlisting in September 1941, Stitt began training with B Flight No. 5 Elementary Flying Training School (EFTS) at Narromine, then proceeded to Canada to train at No. 1 Service Flying Training School at Camp Borden, Ontario. He then attended further training at No. 26 EFTS RAF Theale in Berkshire, and at No. 27 Operational Training Unit at Lichfield, Staffordshire. In December 1943 Flying Officer Stitt transferred to No. 460 Squadron. Flying Officer Stitt served with the Air Force until 27 July 1945.
