Collection relating to the service of Henry Broadhead
Description
A damaged German Junkers J.I ground attack aircraft, 884/17. This type of aircraft entered service in late 1917, specially designed for onfantry close support and reconnaissance, the J.I had an aluminium structure and the crew area was heavily armoured. As part of the British Army of Occupation, No 4 Squadron, AFC was stationed at Bickendorf from 7 December 1918 until March 1919. From the collection of 2311 2nd Air Mechanic Henry Broadhead, No 4 Squadron AFC and originally of 7th Australian Light Horse Regiment.
