Studio portrait of three of the four Onley brothers from Flynn, Gippsland, who served in the First World War. Identified from left to right; 2884 Corporal Ernest Frederick (Fred) Onley, 2nd Field Artillery Brigade; 8202 Private (Pte) Edward Roy (Roy) Onley, 2nd Australian General Hospital and 10563 Gunner Walter Herbert (Wal) Onley, 1st Divisional Ammunition Column. Pte Edward Roy Onley died of wounds in France
on 10 August 1918, while serving with the 8th Field Ambulance and is buried at Vignacourt British Cemetery, Picadie, France. Ernest and Walter Onley survived the war.
