Description

Pair of Black Watch 'Sutherland' tartan high waisted trews in green/black/dark blue with side welt pockets and buttoned fly. Pockets, waist and lower side of fly opening are lined with khaki cotton drill; other side of fly lined in navy blue cotton twill. Inside waist stamped in ink '5'. All seams are machine sewn. Leg hems are machine hemmed but not turned. A 28cm tear in the wearer's front right leg and a 35cm tear in the back left leg have been machine stitched. Fly and waist buttons are coated black metal. Small piece of white cotton handstitched to inside fork section.

History / Summary

335 Pte Albert Henry Ellis served with the 2nd Battalion, Royal Scottish Fusiliers in Burma. He was born at Dana Street, Ballarat in 1854. The Scottish Fusiliers served in Burma between 1885 - 1887 during the 3rd Anglo-Burmese war.
