History / Summary

Patrol jackets were worn by officers of both the artillery and rifle units when attending field activities such as encampments. This jacket is reputed to have been worn by a Major Clark(e). This may have been Major H A Clarke of the Metropolitan Field Artillery. The rank badge positioned on the shoulder strap dates this jacket from 1880. Before this the rank was denoted on the collar.
