PONGANI, NEW GUINEA. 1942-10. MEMBERS OF 2/6TH AUSTRALIAN INDEPENDENT COMPANY PASS BETWEEN NATIVE HUTS ON THE BEACH AT PONGANI, ON THE SHORES OF DYKE ISLAND BAY. THE UNIT WAS THE ADVANCE PARTY OF "WARREN FORCE" AND WAS LATER TO ENGAGE THE JAPANESE IN THEIR STRONGLY DEFENDED POSITIONS ON THE EASTERN FLANK OF CAPE ENDAIADERE.
