Description
Spitfire aircraft of B Flight, 79 Squadron RAAF parked on the island, resting after a four hour plus flight from Townsville. The identifiable aircraft markings are (working from right to left) UP-J, T-SV, UP-D, UP-M, K (no other apparent letters), C (no other apparent letters), UP-G and last four unknown. The squadron formed in May 1943 and they collected aircraft from places including Tocumwal and Laverton , thus necessitating a repaint of codes. Aircraft TS-V probably missed out on it's repaint to have that code.
