Embroidered French souvenir cloth
Description
Cream cotton sateen cloth, with cotton lace edging run through with green silk ribbon and embroidery thread. The centre of cloth has been stencilled with a pattern which has then been over-embroidered and appliqued with ears of wheat, poppies, cornflowers and daisies representing the fields of France. Green satin and running stitch embroidery forms the leaves and stems of the plants, while the flowers and ears of wheat are made of appliqued silk ribbon. In the centre, in royal blue satin stitch is 'SOUVENIR DE FRANCE'.
