Description

Collection documenting Gardner family's experience of W1 and used by Janet Morice in "Six Bob-a Day Tourists". Pte Thomas Gardner's letters describe service in Egypt, Gallipoli, France and Britain and record his deteriorating health and changing attitudes to war and conscription. Papers from Tom's pacifist sister Mabel Drummond, a member of Sisterhood for International Peace and letters from nephew Private Frak Gardner, 17 Battalion, 1918 included.
