Collection relating to Second World War experience of Reverend Father James Benson, Gona, Papua, 1942-1945.

Wallet 1 of 1 - Wallet consists of a bound typescript manuscript, published as 'Prisoner's base and home again: the story of a missionary POW' (London, Robert Hale, 1957). The manuscript is of Reverend Benson's account of his work as an Anglican missionary at Gona, Papua before and after capture by the Japanese. He mentions life with the Japanese including convoy to Salamaua in 1943 and treatment as a prisoner for himself, May Hayman and Mavis Parkinson.
