Shortened Sword Bayonet, Pattern 1907, Mark I. and Scabbard
Pattern 07 (shortened) bayonet with scabbard and belt webbing. The blade has been ground down to 23cm and the scabbard modified accordingly. The manufacturer's name (Lithgow) is impressed on one side of the ricasso while the manufacturer's mark, in three different styles appears on both sides. The number '90090' is impressed into the pommel while the serial '58552 appears on the cross- piece, alongside the 2MD stamp. In good condition. Ring and mortise slot with locking bolt secures the bayonet to the rifle nosecap. The scabbard may be black or brown and the blued or blackened locket and chape are attached by wire lace.
Pattern 1907 sword bayonet for use with the Lee Enfield .303 rifle and issued to Australian, British and Commonwealth forces during the First and Second World Wars.
