Persian Shamshir Sword and Scabbard
Description
Persian shamshir sword and scabbard. The hilt has a straight steel crossguard with round button ends and pointed langets. The grips are bone rivetted to the tang and the pommel is a curved L shape design with a hammered silver cap. The curved blade has a broad fuller to each side with a smaller groove for about 320 mm in the centre, near the back edge and has a clipped back, doubled edged point. On the right side just below the ricasso are two panels with arabic inscriptions. The scabbard is black leather covered wood with silver arebesque fittings that incorporate two fixed hanger rings. A yellow cord and leather strap is fitted to the to the top strap ring.
