Imperial German Navy Officer's Sword and Scabbard
Description
Imperial German Navy Officer's sword and scabbard. The gilt brass hilt has a small basket guard, marked GES.GESCH, with a folding front shell that has a crown over fouled anchor badge on the front and a folding back lock clip. The backstrap and pommel is a lions head. The grip is white bone with brass wire binding. The damascus pipe backed blade is slightly curved with a double edge spear point. The back edge is etched I.ROBRECHT.HOFLIEFERANT.BERLIN. The scabbard is black leather with three gilt brass fittings of a chape, locket and centre hanger all engraved with a scroll design.
