French Model 1845 Infantry Officer's Sword
Description
French Model 1845 Infantry Officer's Sword. The brass half basket single bar hilt has a pierced floral design to the outer edge of the guard and a laurel pattern on the pommel. It is stamped 152874 on the inner edge of the guard. The grip is dark brown bone and the original brass wire binding is missing. The blade has a double fuller (one thin and the other wide) for the complete length to the spear point. The back edge is engraved Manufacture nationale d'armes de Chatellerault 8bre 1915 - Adj't d'Infrie Mle 1845 and the ricasso is stamped J C within individual circles.
