Collection relating to the Second World War service of 10950 Master at Arms Robert “Mick” Triggs, HMAS Sydney, Royal Australian Navy, Mediterranean, 1940-1941.

Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of two folders of material relating to Master at Arms Triggs. Consists of one journal containing handwritten entries in ink which record periods of Triggs' leave and activities on HMAS Sydney. The entries vary in length and cease in January 1941 before Triggs was lost with the rest of HMAS Sydney crew. Triggs mentions the Queen Mary, movements from Australia through Colombo to the Middle East and Mediterranean, bombing of Bardia, Japan's interest in Indo China, Malta, and engaging Italian destroyers.

Also contains two documents. The first document, written by Master at Arms Triggs in c. late 1940, regards the history of HMAS Sydney. The second document is an extract from the Report of Proceedings of the HMAS Sydney by the Captain, relating to the Battle of Cape Spada and HMAS Sydney’s sinking of the Italian cruiser Bartolomeo Colleoni.
