Entrance to the Greek Orthodox Monastery of Mar Saba, showing the steep road and laden donkey transport. The monastery is one of the oldest in the world founded by Saint Saba of Cappadocia in 439 AD. It has been carved into the walls of a canyon in the Kidron Valley near Bethlehem.
