Studio portrait of 3335 Corporal Charles Ernst Balcke MSM 49th Battery, 13 Australian Field Artillery, 5th Australian Division of Auburn, Vic, aged 23. A driver prior to his enlistment on 15 July 1915, Balcke embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT Commonwealth on 26 November 1915 and returned to Australia on 8 July 1919.
