Portrait of 342 Private Frederick William Humphrey 31st Battalion of Footscray, Vic. A blacksmith prior to his enlistment on 15 October 1915 Humphrey embarked from Melbourne on board HMAT Wandilla on 9 November 1915. The son of Henry and Louisa Humphrey of Mitcham, Vic, he was killed in action at Pozieres, France on 20 July 1916 aged 39 years and is memorialised at 7 VC Corner Australian Cemetery France.
