Letter from Private Challands to his mother describing his transfer to a machine gun unit, training, the young age of recruits, and his desire to see active service. Other letters from Lieutenant Colonel Macarthur-Onslow and his wife to Challands' parents, describing his death in action at Tel el Eisa.
