Description

Collection relating to the First World War service of 795 Trooper William Sharpe, 2nd Australian Light Horse Regiment. Collection consists of one picture postcard sent in May 1915 to Mr David Byrnes by Trooper William Sharpe, from Heliopolis, Egypt. Tpr Sharpe comments on the proximity of the Turkish trenches. Sharpe died in Malta on 13 August 1915 of wounds received at Gallipoli - he is buried in the Pieta Military Cemetery.
