Sapper Miller's narrative chronological account of voyage on troopship "Themistocles" en route to England via Panama Canal (the first transport carrying troops to use the Canal). Mentions ports of call, landmarks passed, sport, ship and military routine, death and burial at sea. Mentions of other troopships, "Miltiades", "Anchises", "Medici", "Victoria", "Carmania", "Carpathia", "Canada", "Ionian", "Mongolian", "Oriosa", "Orita", "Ruahine", "Kroonland", "Mokoia" and "Grampian". Also meeting the destroyer escort and comments on camouflage painting to disguise naval shipping. Comments on women's war work.
