Mauser Model 1890 Rifle : Turkish Army
Description
Mauser Model 1890 bolt action rifle. The breech ring is marked with the Turkish Sultan's crest and on the left side Arabic writing which translates as the Mauser Arms Company 1309 (1891). It has a full wood stock and a half top handguard which are bruised. The weapon is complete with a cleaning rod, but the bolt safety catch and cocking piece are missing.
History / Summary
The Model 1890 is a modified version of the Belgian Model 1889 Mauser, one of a contract for 280,000 rifles. Provenance of this weapon is not known.
