Constabulary Pattern 1840 Carbine
Description
Constabulary Carbine Pattern 1840. Pattern 1842 lock marked with a crown over VR over Tower 1843. Stock (butt) marked 57 over IV.C.R and an arrow over II with 1843 (faint). Butt tang has been erased but appears to have been C over 5036. Lovells bayonet catch in the brass fore end cap and lower sling swivel missing. It has the Lovells bayonet catch at the muzzle. The top ramrod pipe is slightly shorter than on the contract model.
