Description
Collection relating to the Second World War service of 24093 Petty Officer Harold Ernest Galbraith, HMAS Napier, Egypt, Kenya, Palestine, Malta, Seychelles and Ceylon, 1942.
Collection consists of one partial diary from 1942, with cover and pages from 9 August (inclusive) onwards missing. The diary begins with PO Galbraith in Alexandria, then mentions his movements, largely as part of HMAS Napier's role in shipping convoys. These include passage to Kenya, Seychelles, Ceylon, Egypt, Palestine, India and Malta. While in the Mediterranean there are several mentions of attack from Luftwaffe aircraft and the shooting down of a Junkers Ju-88.
