Description
Seven diaries kept by O'Brien during his military service. Daily entries record training, military routines, leave, activities and movements. From Redbank, (Qld) 1939; Palestine, Egypt, Bardia, Benghazi, 1940; Greece, Crete, Palestine, Egypt and Lybia 1941; New Guinea, Borneo and Morotai 1943-1945. Also a soldiers pocket notebook. The 1939 diary also contains post war entries recording O'Brien's personal history and involvement in the World Peace and Disarmament Conferences. As do photocopies from Waterside Workers' Federation Journal. Some diaries contain black and white photographs.
